XviD -> VCD file size keeps coming out HUGE

i'm converting XviD to standard VCD using TMPGEnc. used the bitrate calculator to figure out how to get a 100 minute movie into one 80 min CD-R. told me to do it at 950k for video and 128k for audio....lo and behold the file size comes out to a little over a gig.

what gives? i tried using the TMPGEnc wizard, but it comes out with the same result, a 1 gig file. could it be because the movie has a lot of action/movement?

VCD is 800 MB per 80 minutes fixed, carved in stone, won't ever change.

Don't try and change the bitrate, TMPGEnc won't let you since you are using the VCD template.

Now if you load the UNLOCK.MCF file, you can create an MPEG system stream and set your bitrates. Don't expect it to look any good, it's simple too low a bitrate for MPEG1.

Search KVCD and xVCD for tips on 1 CDR movies. They use non-standard GOP's to get better results (but some players get confused).
