  1. Greets,

I was wondering how do you get the co-ordinates for hot spots in a menu.
Yes I know they are rare in dvd players. But in software players like DVD powerplayer. they work!

I created (copied) hot spots from VP4 by inserting my still menu of 704x480 into the program and then recording the X and Y co-ordinates from the button editor, closed the program, and then inserted the values into my xml.

It seemed to work but now i want to create varible sized hotspots for those screens that can be resized like windows.
    (ie. DVD powerplayer)

What I notieced is that VP4 did someting to my still and shrunk the image to create the hotspots insead of using the 704x480 size.

What my MAIN question is, Instead of Depending on VP4 to find the co-ordinates for the still, can i find them somewhere else? I have tried Photoshop but i seem to get diffrent values from them.

Also what units are used for the co-ordinates? pixels?, points? centimeters?

Any help or suggestions would be great

    Tim

  2. timmy,

I believe that I've explained this to you before...

    Stop thinking in "units".

Irregardless of how wide or tall your picture is, the co-ordinates of the hotspots are from 0-255 for the width and 0-255 for the height.

    Thus:
    (0,0)---------------------------(255,0)
    |
    |
    |
    |
    |
    |
    |
    (0,255)-------------------------(255,255)

You will have to map the real pixels on the image to these co-ordinates (a simple task requiring a calculator).

    Regards.
