I had been using DVD Workshop for over a year, until last week when everything went to hell!!
I've uninstalled and re-installed DVD Workshop 6 @#$@% times. I've tried all the updates and patches in every concievable order. I even went into the registry and deleted every reference to Ulead and re-installed and still can not getting it working properly again.
First Workshop would not load any mpg files. That turned out to be a problem with mcmpgdec.dll which was kind of corrected by the MPEG fix patch. It now loads mpg files but it takes at 5-15 minutes to load a 30 min clip and makes editting or add chapters completely unbearable.
Out of total frustration I created a 72 minute VCD with menus, nothing fancy and it took me over 3 hours just to load the clips and add 7 chapters.
And after sending all that time I clicked the Finish tab only to find out that the Make Disc option was disabled.
So before I throw my computer out the nearest window, could someone please help me!!!
What can I do to speed up loading/editting mpg files? (it used to only take a couple of seconds to load a 60+ minute clip)
and
How do I enable the Make Disc button again?
The brillant folks at Uleads only advise was to format my computer and start over. So any suggests would be better than that!

doing a format/reinstall could be the only way to fix your problem.
I have gotten a few problems with my computer since i've installed/uninstalled dvd workshop and a few other programs.
i'm going to format/reinstall soon, and be more careful about what i install.
so if you know how to format, and you need to format, then that's what you should do.
if you do not know how to format, then... well, good luck.asdf -
I use Ulead DVD Workshop AC-3 and have never had a problem with it.
Have you changed anything in your system as you said it has been working for a year? -
I uninstalled Movie Factory and Workshop stopped working. I've tried re-installing Movie Factory but it doesn't help.
Movie Factory and Video Studio both work fine but I can't get Workshop running again. -
Actually, the advice to reformat drive c: (system) and perform a clean installation of Microsoft Windows might - indeed - be the best advice one could possibly follow.
I have Ulead DVD Workshop AC-3 running without a hitch on three workstations here in my project studio.
Months of heavy use.
No issues.
The problems you describe suggest a Microsoft Windows registry issue.
Which version of Microsoft Windows are you running?
Microsoft Windows SE is notorious for registry issues and poor memory management.

I'm using Windows XP and I have manually gone into the registry and deleted every reference to Ulead and Mpg. It doesn't make a difference.

Fred, just use the XP System Restore feature to roll back to an appropriate point. Hopefully you have one at an appropriate time.
