    Is it possible to make a vcd out of the dat file i had saved onto my hdd? I do not have the other folders or files that were present in the vcd. Please advice....

    You should be able to use 'VCD Gear' to convert it back to a MPEG1 file (assuming that you copied from a VCD). You can d/load it from the Tools section to the left.
