Pinnacle is accepting pre-orders on its new version of the Studio DV 7. It is a hardware MPEG1/2 encoder aimed at analog recording for $129 USD. I, in fact, don't have any experience with capture as I'm using an old PII system. I'm building a system and am trying to detirmine what will give me the best bang for the buck. So far no one has given me any input on my other product inquiries (Gainward Golden Sample GeForce2 MX VIVO and Asus V7700 Deluxe Geforce2 GTS VIVO). How about this new Pinnacle card? Based on current and past products, is this new card likely to be worth $130? How about the AIW Radeon 8500 (release Fall 2001)? Is ATI likely to fix the previous capture software/driver compatibility problems the current AIW have? If the 8500's 3D performance matches the GeForce3 it would be worth its $300 price if the past AIW capture glitches are fixed.
