  1. Hi,
I am having problems playing VCD's on my standalone DVD player. I checked compatibility on this website and my Panasonic RV31 is VCD compatable.

As best as I can describe it, the problem is: A few thick black lines that jitter and jump, and the image is shaking a lot and repeating over itself. The sound, however, works fine.

I have tested this with NTSC format and PAL (I live in Europe, but both of my tests have been the same.) I have tried using two types of media. I have tried using NERO 6 and EZCD Creator 5 always with the same effect. I have also tried slowing down my burn speed because I am using an older computer. I have tried two different MPEG files, and also a converted AVI.

All my movies are in NTSC. That means that I have to burn them in that format even though I am in Europe right?

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas they would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Agentmonkeys,

I once had an RV31 and found that media was usually the issue. In the end, I went to Memorex CDRW. Though, other brand CDRWs should work. Only testing in your player will tell.
    Have a good one,
