  1. I was making a SVCD and I just noticed that when I play the original DVD on my 31" TV there is just a little bit of the picture lost on the sides and top compared to when I play it on my computer. Is this normal? At first I thought it had to do with the resizing of 720x480 to 480x480, but like I said I then used the original DVD. A year ago when I bought my 31" I had it sitting next to my 25" and noticed the 31" would show a little more picture for broadcast show. For example in a scene the top of a persons head would meet the top of screen on 25", but on the 31" there was extra picture above the head. On a side question, I have made a lot of SVCD with DVD2SVCD set to auto for Force film and never paid attention to if souce was interlaced. Recently, I educated myself since I noticed a svcd was bad and figured out the tv episode had 2 of 5 frames interlaced and IVTC was not triggered, so I redid it and manually set IVTC and it looked great then. I view everything on TV so don't worry about deinterlacing. I don't have a video camera but want to get one soon. I see most have a progressive and interlace mode. So is it true that any mpegs you make with a camcorder in interlaced mode will have comb effect when played on pc? I read most porn is interlaced so I looked up a couple mpegs I had downloaded and couldn't see comb effect so they must have deinterlaced them so they would play ok on computer? Thanks

What you see as lose of the picture on the sides of the tv is overscan,it differs from tv to tv with an average of 15 pixels covered per side,as the interlaced mpg viewing on a pc it will looked combed when playing thru windows media player but when viewed thru windvd or power dvd it is either bobbed or weaved or auto to reduce the interlace effect.
