What does SCANDATA.DAT do toward SVCD burning?
It says something about that file, and is now fixed
in the newest version of Nero... anyone?

  2. it allows ff/rw for SVCDs.

By the way. I tested the new nero with Superman-The Movie.
I had no problem ff/rw but the time display for my DVD player was incorrect-which I can live with

That odd. I'm using an older version and FF/RW works just fine on the SVCDs I made with this version.

  4. Yes it is odd, it used to work fine on 4.0 and the first 5, but not on the previous one. Hopefully yhet've fixed it right. I'm about to download the latest version to have this fixed

  5. Not all DVD players require the scandata file play in sync, correct searching, correct time display.

If you DVD player doesn't utilise this, then you won't have problems even if the scandata file is broken.

  6. I use an older version of Nero and just drag a scandata.dat file to the ext folder. Can anybody comfirm that the new version of Nero and the scandata.dat file does in fact work on players that require it? I know the previous version had problems with the included scandata.dat file.

  7. The actual problem that Nero had was that it didn't actually write the needed file to the CD. There may be a scandata.dat file in your dir if you burned with previous Neros but the file was not actually written as intended.

the scandata on this site did work for me, however I could only fast forward thru first 50min then went back to begining. Now my SVCDs work a LOT better!

  8. Hello,

Indeed FF/RW works, but now try the GOTO option with the latest Nero, now that doesn't work anymore.........

Use another product, like Ulead's DVD plugin for Media Studio and Video Studio. I had the same problems and after using this product everything works. The plugin allows you to create menus for VCD/SVCD and DVD. It also allows you to create chaptering for all 3 formats.
