Copying VCD's

I have noticed that a lot of VCD's in two disc packs, will
not allow me to copy the DAT file from disc#1 but will allow
me to copy the DAT file from the second disc. If I try to drag the the file over to my hard drive it starts to copy, then I get the error "Can't read from device" or something of the like, but disc two usually just copies normally VCDGear cannot take the DAT file to hard drive as MPEG either. Is there anything that will do it.

Make sure the first disc is clean. No scratches, no marks, nothing. Any little imperfection on the surface of the disc could be causing this problem. The fact that it happens on the first disc a lot more is just a coincidence.
