  1. I made a .bin and .cue from a dvd i have. I went into alcohol 120% and burnt it to a disc, and tried it in my dvd player and it woudn't play. I also tried it in my pc and another one and when i let windvd read the svcd as an svcd, it would say play in the corner but would hang at a black screen. However, if i browse to the mpeg folder, i can play the mpeg as the svcd should play. I have tried several different programs for burning the svcd, but all have the same results. Is windvd supposed to recognize the svcd and play it or am i supposed to have to browse to the mpeg? I tried doing this with another dvd and it did the same. Any help? i believe my player is a klh dvd33. thanks!
the drive tested in are: dvd-rom, cd-rw, and dvd player

Also - i tried powerdvd 5 and it finds the video cd and plays it perfectly. is windvd no good?

also - i have mounted the cue file to a virtual cd drive, and windvd recognizes it as an svcd and plays it without any direction.

Well, I never had much luck with Windvd. I use an older version of PowerDvd for playing in my computer and it works fine. A bigger problem is if it won't play in a settop player. Really depends on the player, burning software and a whole lot more variables. I use DVD2SVCD and Nero to burn the cue/bin. Works great for me.

  3. i checked out the dvd players listings and i have a klh dvd33 (came in a kit with speakers) and people said that they had no problem playing svcds, but i heard some things about cd-rs not playing but cd-rws playing. also, my cd-rw drive says it supports video discs so i assume that includes svcds as well. i edited the clip to a 50mb file and made an svcd with that to test a cdrw in the dvd player, but that cdrw wouldn't work in powerdvd.
