  1. Probably the wrong forum but I could not find one more relevant.

    Right.

My friend made a dvd of my cousins in the US he made an image of it and I downloaded it via ftp. So I now have two files dvd.iso and dvd.iso.001.

    1. Firstly what is this 001 business all about.
    2. Secondly I would normally just open the iso in nero and click burn. When I do this it says that there is something wrong with the file and would I like to modify it. I select no burn it and it does not work. If I select modify I am not sure what I am meant to change.

If I burn it in dvd iso mode with nero, will this work ? or is there a way to extract the files from the image.

    Thanks for looking

  2. sounds like one of them is a temp file or something... why not just ask your friend? That would be the easiest part... e.g. ask him to open the image with nero and see if he gets the same error.

  3. That would be obvious but the idiot is on holiday and my old lady wants to watch it now she won;t wait two weeks. Would it be possible if I just burnt it in DVD ISO mode. Would that play ?

  4. You could try to mount the iso files on your computer with deamon tools to see if one of them won't work.

I suspect the size of the file was bigger than the FTP allowed and it was split. You can use a program like Filemerger http://home.planet.nl/~doesw008/filemerger.html or similar to put it back into one piece. Then the complete file may be recognized. Try this program or similar if Daemon tools doesn't work. Caution - I would always recommend using a copy of the files, just in case.
