  2. The main problem, of course, is that your movie is not Video CD compliant. You don't tell us how you encoded it, or if you just ripped the files and tried to burn the .vobs straight to vcd. Anyway, a standard VCD has to have MPEG-1 encoded at 352x240 resolution(for NTSC systems), a constant bitrate of 1150 Kbps for video and an MPEG Layer II audio bitrate of 224 Kbps. Since your file didn't meet these specs, it didn't play. If you don't want a lot of cd-r coasters or polycarbonate clay pigeons, don't burn non-compliant files to VCD. (Unless you already know your DVD player supports them).

  4. I used everything under the "Sefys newbie start DVD Ripping guide" - SmartRipper / DVD2AVI /TMPGEnc and the VFAPI plug-in. I used the "how to", checked the forums, etc.. before I posted here. Again, this is my first try at this so I know mistakes will be made. I followed the instuctions to the tee. Much of which I didnt understand but the demo helped.

  5. Did you load a VideoCD Template before you started encoding ? that is a very common problem, no matter how much I try to emphasize the order of things, people seem to forget.
If you don't load a Template, TMPGEnc default settings match those of the inputed files, in your case 720x480 which is a DVD resolution, and therefor is not VideoCD, please make sure you have loaded a VideoCD Template BEFORE encoding, and AFTER you inputed the source.
