    VCD has crapy picture quality. Make SVCD's. Read the guides.

    Nope, VCD doesn't do great picture quality. Medium worn VHS is the best you can aspire to.
    If you want chapters and fancier stuff (well, you should do it anyway!) you should try VCDEasy to author your (S)VCD.

    Check the DVD player compatability guide to see if your player will play SVCD. PS2 does not play VCD or SVCD.
