DVD MOVIE AUDIO CUTS OFF IN 5 MIN

Hello,

Here is a problem I encountered for the first time. I play my pre-recorded DVD Movies in my Pioneer A04 Drive to view them on my PC with RealPlayer or WindowsMedia Player. All goes well after I press play to begin the movie and then the audio cuts off in 5 minutes. In order to continue the movie with audio, I have to re-open MediaPlayer or RealPlayer and select the chapter where I was cut-off. All goes well again until 5 minutes. NO AUDIO but the video continues playing.

What may be the problem?
Can someone help me with this misery?

**Remember, these are DVD Movies from the video store not DVD-R's**

It sounds like your MPEG2 decoder is having problems with the DVD copy protection "feature", but this is only an educated guess. What MPEG2 decoder do you have installed? If you do not know, download Gspot and load up an MPEG2 file in it, then click "render", note what decoder is used for the video AND the audio.

The easiest thing to try is to invest in dedicated DVD playback software, I prefer WinDVD but PowerDVD is just as good, it's just a matter of preference and what hardware you have. Both of these can be had for as cheap as 10 bucks. Thes include their own decoders and are far more stable in DVD movie playback than the software you are currently using.

If you don't want to buy either of these or simply don't like them, you might just try another free media player. I prefer Zoom Player or BSPlayer. But like I mentioned aboove, you will still most likely have to replace your MPEG2 decoder even with these players.

Let me know what your current configuration is in relation to my queries above, and if any of the suggestions helped, and we'll move on from there.
