  1. HI All,

I have been having problems playing back MPEG2 files ever since I had to re-format and re-install the Window 98 operating system on my PC. Basically, the sound is ok but the picture is nowhere to be seen. I suppose there is a codec problem but I never had any problems before with playing MPEG-2. The odd thing is that the MPEG2 captures using my Hauppage DEC2000 play fine. All my other captures are using my PV-256.

I have tried different players, and have installed the nimo codec pack hoping that the missing codec would be included somewhere but still cannot play MPEG2. Can anyone help? or at least tell me where I can get hold of the right codec.

    many thanks/

Have you tried any of the MPEG-2 codecs in the Tools section at left?
    Hello.

  3. TommyKnocker is right. From what TMPGEnc has told me, you need a codec to play MPEG-2 video files. This comes with most new computers

  4. I have been researching the Dec2000-t before buying. It looks like the usb output is Mpeg2 broadcasters stream and I have seen advice about converting the stream into svcd. try looking at http://www.reviewcentre.com/review24367.html or http://www.reviewcentre.com/review16748.html where there's helpful reviews with some hints. If you find out more please post a reply to my forum request for dec2000 info.

Yes, you are correct. The usb connection transfers the MPEG2 broadcast stream to your PC.

It is not in any standard format so it has to be reencoded to be DVD/SVCD/VCD compatible.
