  1. Does anybody knows where is stored the menu image before it is included in a SVCD compilation, either with Nero Burning or Nero Vision?
    Thanks

Look for files that are named something like 'NVE40C1.TMP'

There's not much you can do with them since Nero and NeroVision don't seem to make images of the CD files before burning, they just decode from these sorts of files on the fly.

Good luck getting the SVCD to burn with NeroVision too. I've not managed it yet.

  3. Hi, thanks for replying. Actually I did get the NEro vision (version 2) to work. My problem came with the DVD player which seems to have something against its burnings. Either from an avi or a mpg file nero vision is able to make SVCD playable in my computer, menu works, chapter works and movie works as well. But somehow the CD is not recognized by the home DVD. I decided to turn to DVD2SVCD package. It works just fine, although a bit slow encoding, but I would like to use the easy going menus and chapters from Nero Vision and insert them into DVD2SVCD to have the best from both. I already tried to use the temp files from Nero Vision but they don't include any known format. I'll keep investigating. Thanks again and good look authoring!!

Hi I was interested in your post, if you get a chance perhaps you could look at mine https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=171030

What is Nero Vision, is it a cut down version of Nero 6.0 or is it a specialist App...I have only recently started ripping DVD`s to VCD and have gone through a steep learning curve.....think I`m almost there now, but you never stop learning.I would like to email you my Template from TMPGEnc. I have managed to get a VCD which I think is of very good quality.....I didn`t go for SVCD because of the short play time....As regards menus......I think NERO is very poor, there are fixed sets of thumbnails which never seems to match the number I want and the resultant `menu screen` never looks very professional......I have now got Easy CD Creator 6, so I`ll try and see if this is better at Menus`s (I have heard this to be the case) Look forward to your reply

  5. Hi again calibra,

I'm afraid that I can not help you too much cause as I told you, I only use DVD2SVCD for the whole process, which include "Cinema Craft Encoder (CCE) SP 2.66.01.07" as encoder. I tried to use TMPGenc several times but for more than a half of them audio got desync. I don't know if this is just a problem for SVCD, I did not try VCD, but CCE works just fine, a bit slow but who really cares? I let it working while I'm at work and when I'm back everything is perfectly done, images ready to burn included.
My black point ith this is that I can not insert an still image with the menu. I know I can do it by hand (Photoshop or anything like that) but this is the long way. Nero vision can be poor at encoding but gives you good enough images for menus, so the point was to get those images and feed the CCE prog with them.
I'm sorry I can not help you much with bitrates as I'm right now trying to get used to them. All of us are learning day by day and these forums can push us forward a bit each time. Keep in contact

You might try using VCDEasy for the menuing portion of this job. (You can still use whatever you want to do the actual rendering of the VCD/SVCD...)

Here's a thread with some pointers on menuing.

    Hope this helps!

No, but trying the OPEN AS feature in Photoshop and try to open the files that are under 100k one by one. That may work.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
