  1. Help.

I'm running Windows 98 on a PII 350 machine with a CD-R2006PLUS SCSI drive. Up until recently, I was using Easy CD Creator 4 to make VCDs. Something corrupted EZ CD Creator 4, so I installed Creator 5. Turns out 5 doesn't support my drive. Didn't have the disk to reinstall 4, so I uninstalled 5 and installed Nero 5.5.

Nero burns data CDs just fine, but when I ask it to make VCDs, it corrupts the dat file. I make the mpg with TMPGEnc, and they worked perfectly with EZ CD. They don't work with Nero. The audio has a loud click and the video is just black. I used VCDgear to pull the mpg back out the dat, and the resulting mpg is has the same video and audio problems.

Nero is set for NTSC. Is there some other setting I have wrong?

    Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks,

I have had very similar problems to this, so any help would be appreciated.

  3. Steve, I'm sorry to say I never did figure it out. I spent three week of screwing around with various software packages. I even managed to get hold of a copy of EZ CD Creator 4 and couldn't get that to work. So finally I gave up and bought a new burner, an LG 12 x 8 x 32 which was the cheapest thing I could find, new or reconditioned.

The bad news is that I'm out three weeks and $100. The good news is that as long as I don't burn faster than 4 x, I'm having no trouble. I'm using Nero 5.5 for the software just because it takes less disk space than EZ CD.

Sorry I can't be more help. If you do get it solved, please post the solution here.
