The best computer for Adobe Premier?

What is the best computer Configurations to get faster editing method in Adobe Premier ?

Fast processor (P4 3.06Ghz), lots of fast memory (DDR400/533, 1Gb) and what would really help, from my limited experience of Premier, is a fast Disk subsystem. Consider Serial ATA Raid 0 if buying/building a new system.

So I can say that my system is OK...


But is it normal to export 15 mins of video in adobe Premier using canopus mjpeg codec (AVI) in about 3:30 hours ? (NTSC 720x480) ?

Something doesn't sound right. My computer is similar to yours except that my video card is no where near the speed of your Canopus. Fifteen minutes of video would take an hour or less on my machine. The one major difference that I can see is the size of your hard drive. I have 120Gb with most of it free as the main drive. I also have a 240Gb external Maxtor on a USB port. The external drive renders much slower than the internal drive. Might be something for you to take a look at.

The number of frames per second and size of your video screen that you are rendering also matter a lot.

Ok I tried Ulead MediaStudio Pro7 ... the same 15 min I rendered for only 50 min...


So can we say that Adobe Premier is an computer power killer ?

Adobe products are memory hogs. The fastest processor you can afford along with a generous amount of memory are your best bets.
