  1. Iīve burnt a mpeg-file to a Verbatim CD-r, then I tried to play it on my Pioneer DV-350. The only thing that happend was that the sound from the clip emerged through the speakers.

    What have I done wrong?

I burned the file with Nero, to VCD.

    I have a Panasonic widescreen 100 Hz.

  2. We need details...

Where did the MPEG come from? How did you make it? With what proggies? With what settings?

How did you burn it? Any error messages pop up?

Have you made VCDs before? Did they work?

    Regards.

Did you use the "create vcd" option on nero?

If no, you need to, otherwise it will not play correctly.

If yes, you should test .dat file that nero created on the disk. Open the .dat file with windows media player and see what happens. If the same thing happens then I would suggest trying a different burning program.

If windows media player plays it then its you dvd player. Get a new one.

Everything that shark says applies...all I can suggest is downloading a dvd player for your computer(WinDVD or PowerDVD and testing the vcd on that). If it works on the computer and not on the standalone player...there's something wrong with your player. Also, check the compatibility section of this site to make sure your dvd player can play cdr's. Hope that helps.
