I'm a newbie to all this, but after about two weeks of messing around with ffmpeg I have managed to author my first SVCD - WooHoo!!

The only problem is when I play it back in my dvd player it plays about a second then pauses then plays another second then pauses etc. Is this something to do with framerate? I authored it as SVCD PAL because I'm in the UK, but I don't know what the source avi framerate is because the info button doesn't work.

    Any ideas??

  2. How much it pauses? If it is a very small amount of time, it could be a framerate not matching the source file framerate. Use quicktime to open your AVI and check the framerate in the info panel.

OK, quicktime says the framerate is 23.98. So I'm going to change the framerate to NTSC FILM in Video Parameters - This may be a stupid question, but because I'm in a PAL region will I still be able to play my SVCD?

    Thanks

  4. I would say yes at 99% probability.
