    Search Comp PM
I have a MPEG file on my PC - me at a race that was taken by some friends at a local university.

When I play it on my WMP, it is fine but can I just burn this to DVD and expect it to play on a stand alone?

I know that my WMP did require some codecs and stuff to play via WMP so I dont know how to get this to play on a stand alone...

I have used the search and it seems that each scenario is different so please excuse me if this is a common issue bcz I could not find help -

  2. In a word, No, that is unless you are very lucky and have one of the few models of DVD player that will do this.

Basically if the mpeg is DVD compliant then you can just 'author' it to DVD specs, then burn it to your disk. Freeware that will do this is IfoEdit. There are also many commercial programs with varying levels of user friendlyness, features and prices. Take a look at some of the guides in the authoring section for more help.

If the mpeg is not DVD compliant (and if not most DVD authoring programs will reject it), the you will have to re-encode.
