  2. Is there a demand for all 3? I think most people are satisfied with the +-, I actually don't know anyone who has a device to support DVD-RAM, so within my community, there is no need or demand for that.

  4. The DVD-RAM support can be important if you need to support the various electronic devices on the market that record to DVD-RAM.

    Examples:

    1. Toshiba RD-X2:

    2. Panasonic's VDR-M30 DVD disc camcorder:

    http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?storeId=11251&cata...fModel=VDR-M30

    3. Samsung's DVD-R3000 stand alone player/recorder:

    4. Hitachi's pro camcorder:

To date, the DVD-RAM player/recorder marketshare has outperformed that of the DVD+RW because of the lack of competition.

Philips has been the one company to offer a DVD+RW player/recorder until recently - Apex is now selling a $399 unit.

For this reason, the DVD-RAM recordable devices have captured significant marketshare:

  5. DVD-RAM is supposed to be great for backups, and for the supposed reincarnation of packet-writing aka Mt. Rainier/Easywrite...

I'd buy a unit with all three formats.

I had a an LG GSA-4040B that supports all 3 formats. and for just about a month that i had this writer, so far so good. no complains yet.
although RAM medias are far more expensive that dvdr, i think its the best in backing up datas.
    249.00 US$ here in korea.
