We should be making available v1.5.3 in the next 24-48 hours, but I'm not sure if we will be posting it to VT or MacUpdate, so just check our site. its up to Chris really and if he wants to deal with the grief or not. Apparently there seems to be a lot of libel and FUD around our stuff, and its quite sad really.
These days we tend to ignore such things, but some of the stuff is *really* inaccurate, but is presented in such a way to make it seem "true"...
Apparently the dvdvx and dvdmp engines seem to be forgotten about when folks go off one their tirades about "GUI wrappers" as it were
What I know will be in 1.5.3: Auto Bitrate calc for 1CDR. I did not write this code for forty-two, but I believe it works so 1CDR mode will do what its supposed to do.
If we have *time* I will also put in as much of the threading improvements as I can from our D+/VX products. It helps *a lot* since part of forty-two is in Carbon.
If it doesn't make it into this version, it will be in the next...then we will tackle the mpeg splitting issues and PCM support, thanks to a hint I got from Ross awhile back.
And hey:
We really do thank the folks that have stood by us and let us do our thing. Really.

As long as the .bin/.cue creation actually makes an entire set for SVCD im sure we will all be happy!
Keep up the good work! -
That comes a *bit* later.
Let me put it this way, bluntly:
That code is F*CKED UP, okay?
We were going over it last week and I was *marveling* that it works even sometimes.
I'm crossing my fingers for a *simple* fix, since I see *where* and *why* its broken. Trying to get around it tho with the way forty-two was built will be kinda complicated. I'm going to try to move the math into another module and hopefully that will be a quick, painless fix.
The "commercial" (hiss...booo...) version DVD-MP (which will be an Add-On for folks that got DVD-VX, hence...cheaper) will handle the problem in a completely different way that really can't be backported. There are 3 sets of eyes on the forty-two code however so we will work out *something* even if it means writing a completely different "helper" app in C to make it work.

Almost forgot:
The threadslave ACTUALLY BUILT with the new threading code!!!!
What this means:
The whole thing will run a WHOLE LOT faster because it won't be shamelessly stealing cpu cycles. This is a big deal, because I wasn't even sure it would *build* at all this way.
We'll be testing it this evening, if we get the time. Also, I'm going to *try* to get at least DVD-Folder support into the software, but it really isn't ultimately up to me. Someone else has "veto" power over that part of the code, but I will stress that not only does it offer faster execution it makes folks feel better because they don't have to tax their optical drive.
We'll see how it goes

Very nice. I love to here about the continued work on Forty-Two. I still to this day can't say enough good things about this program. It literally took DAYS off the vcd creation process.

we are doing a first test build tonite. And PLEASE REMEMBER, this version does NOT yet address any mpeg issues, only "514" issues related to making 1 CDR "514" files.
Also, we are testing the new threadSlave. its looking stable so it might make it in as well.
We've agreed to also include DVD-Folder support, but it might not make it into *this* release; Bilestyle is looking into that now.
