hi
I'm trying to convert avi to mpeg2. it all oes well exept for one thing. the file is to small. i tried converting a 2hour movie, used a bitrate calculator, it all went fine until it was finished. the bitrate calculator told me a bitrate that would fit the movie on one dvdr.
well, it was enough space on the dvdr, but becasue the vobs only were 3,2 gb.
so now i'm asking if someone knows a good bitrate calculators for the dvd format.

The one in the tools section has always been OK for me.
How are you converting your .avi files to VOBs?............a little off topic but I'm really struggling to do this without sync' probs, what's your method?
Sorry for the hijack -
i'm usign tmpgenc to convert the video, whit my template.
i extract the sound using vdub and convert it to ac3 with besweet
maby it was because i used VBR that the file was so small? -
2pass VBR or TMPGenc's CQ_VBR? If you used 2pass VBR the size should come out as predicted. If you used CQ_VBR it is impossible to predict the file size of the encoded MPEG.
In order for the bitrate calculators to work you have to encode as either CBR or multipass VBR (in the case of TMPGenc that would be 2pass). -
i used 2pass VBR in tmpenc.
but were can i find a dvd bitrate caclulator with 2pass VBR?
