I've just figured out how to turn my .avi files into .mpg files so that they play on my DVD player but now I have no idea what to do with my .mpeg (and even some .mpg) files that won't burn onto a CD-R.
I've tried to encode them using avi2mpg1 (hich is what I used for the .avi files) but it asks me to decompress the audio. With the avi2mpg software I have I can only decompress .avi files. Does anyone know what type of decompressor there is that can help with my files? Also, why is it that my .mpeg and some /mpg files won't will not burn onto a CD?
Thanks!![]()

Hey,
And the problem with you searching these forums for a solution is . . . . what?
Seriously, try a search and see what you come up with - the aim of a community like this is as much self-help as helping others, and you would probably get a better response from people if you a) included more information about the type of avi you are encoding, and b) at least gave the impression you had tried to find a fix.
Don't expect to be spoon-fed, else the spoon belt you around the head!
Cheers,

searching for guides is the best, but when you dont find what you need then thats what a forum is for
cola i got a decompresser that might help
email me if you want and i will send it, i always decompress 1st so that encoders can work on a nice decompressed file -
First off all, l I have searched around the forums and the instructions for some help. I have not found what I am looking for so therefore I have decided to post a question. I thought that this is what a forum was for? I thought that when people are unable to locate what they are looking for then they can post here and hopefully someone will be able to help them? If not, then what is the use of having a forum, specifically a forum for newbie conversions? Secondly, I have had to try and fix my files. If you read in the very opening of my post you'll notice that I can finally turn my .avi files into .mpg files so that I can make a VCD. And how did I learn to do this? By reading the various information around here! I am not expecting to be spoon fed, and your post has got me wondering if perhaps somebody forgot to teach you the importance of helping others. If you can't help me that is fine. It's cool. Instead of going on a rant based on assumptions just say that you cannot help me.
I am sorry if my question is an inconvenience to you but I figured that my question was clear. I was just wondering how I can fix my .mpeg files so that they can be burned onto a disk (VCD)....specifically where I can perhaps find an audio decompressor that will decompress the audio of an .mpeg. I don't know what other type of information is needed. -
agree 100% cola, when i 1st responded to this post, it was a bit of a nasty reply from bolta, but then it was edited
bolta, if you havent got any help for anyone DONT REPLY -
Thanks Matt! I was hoping I wasn't the only one. I never get upset on forums but I felt like I was being attacked. I'm gonna PM/mail you.
Thanks. -
Everyone . . .
If people had checked my previous posts, they'll see that I do try to help when I can, and if I know what I'm talking about. Apologies if anyone was offended, but users of any bulletin-board / forum like this one can appreciate that the more information people put into a post when they have a problem, the easier it is for the rest of the community to try and help them out.
CCColaCola - it's great that you had previously searched the forums for a solution, but you didn't mention it in your first post! It's also great that you have used the guides on the site as well, but again you didn't mention it! I didn't want to make the mistake of assuming anything about your actions or about what you had done prior to posting - I'm sorry if my post came across as being too abrupt. If I can help out then I will - just let me know.
matneaves - i will reply to messages like Cola's initial one, even if it's only to find out more information. I'm not going to sit back and pontifcate about what's a right or a wrong solution for someone without knowing more information. So sorry to disappoint you, but I will keep replying when I need to know more! *wry smile*
Cheers to all,
