  1. With DVD Shrink a dvd copy will play great on my PC, however when I play it on my stand alone player it plays the wrong audio track (the documentary track). Any suggestions to fix this?

  7. Movies copied using DVDShrink plays fine on my GF's Go Video DVP853, but with the subtitles enabled. To fix this, we use the DVD player's remote to disable it.

When I have time, I'll check if deleting all subpictures will fix the problem. I'm relactant to do this because I read somewhere that deleting all subpictures would make movies like the Borne Identity hard to follow because you have effectively removed the only means of translating the non-English dialogs. Is this true?

Btw, DVDShrink version 1.03 will be the last version of this awesome app. The next version, called DVD Backup Studio (I believe), will be available in June (I'm hoping), but will no longer be freeware. As a satisfied user of DVDShrink, I will be more than happy to pay for the new app when it comes out.

The first time I tried DVDShrink, I removed everything except the main movie to get the size down before re-encoding. I decided that I didn't need all of the audio tracks either. The English audio showed two tracks, a 5.1 and a 2 channel. As I wasn't bothered about the 5.1 (the disk was to be used in a mono TV/DVD combi), I removed it and left just the 2 channel. Having re-encoded and burnt to DVD-RW, I tried playing the disk and found that all I had was the commentary, no video audio at all! Since then, I've always removed any DTS track but left the 5.1 alone.

Well I finally had time to test it. I deleted all subpictures and my GF's DVD player played the movie without a hitch. Best of all, the translations were not removed as I had feared. From now on I will be deleting all subpictures when making backup copies using DVDShrink.
