I have a problem with playing MOVs. I have tried out Quicktime before but didn't like it. And there are no other players on my computer that can play MOVs. I have mplayer2.exe, Realplayer One, and Windows Media Player 7. All of which can't play MOVs. Is there a good, free program besides Quicktime that can only play MOVs?

Another possibility is to use Irfanview ( a free picture viewer which can play movs as well, PROVIDED you have Quick time installed.
I am curious - why don't you like Quick time. If you have the registered version you will easily notice that it is years ahead from the MS player.
....and some nice features of the quick time standard which do not exist in the world of other movie formats.
    Best wishes,

But then if you dont feel like splashing fifty dollars or whatever on some proprietary apple standard that for most people does an equal or lesser job to Media Player 6, you get the standard Quicktime player, which sucks major behind.

Oh yeah, and if you wanna play the Animatrix online stuff, you have to upgrade the entire damn system. Media player would just go hunt for the codec for "Unknown format - variable bitrate" (or likely as not have it already installed), or you could quite quickly and easily go find and install inside a few minutes. Quicktime 6 itself, req'd for that audio format, probably takes as long just on the download never mind the finding and the (re)install. Why couldn't it just have got the drivers from apple's site?

(to go offtopic briefly: another thing on those poorly coded Animatrix QTs.. they use MJPG compression. MPJG. No delta-type squishing at all. Makes for some good looking pic, but with MAJOR bandwidth waste especially considering the extremely limited motion in some of the material, and the fact they're website downloads (in Zip files, no less!). The films are unreasonably huge for the length and resolution.. probably why it needs the new VBR audio rather than plain 128k mp3. either this is further backup to my argument that people only use QT because they're clueless, or it's deliberately been done to make you want to go and buy the dvd instead. Hell, it's worked in this case, i'll be down the shop when it comes in)

Still not a fan, sorry, you aint gonna convince me. Didnt like the players even offered when trying out apples in the computer shop (do you have to pay to register quicktime on them, or is it part of the purchase price?)

Hmm, playing QTs in media player, eh.. this deserves further investigation.
Nope. Broken. Ah well it was a nice dream while it lasted, that of being able to throw away that over-designed, nice looking but horrible to use (a general apple metaphor??) player and maybe get controllable fullscreen. Dashed.

Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!
