I have a D8 video that has been encoded with TmpgEnc 2.59 and burnt as VCD and SVCD CBR respectively Using Nero. They both played perfectly in my 2 DVD players, XMS 750 & Omni SD3300. Then I imported the Mpeg1 and Mpeg2 files into Ulead DVD Factory and add Menu and chapters. VCD & SCVD produced played well on both players from the beginning without any interruptions. However, if the menu is used to go to a certain chapter, then the picture from the chosen chapter siezed on the screen for a few seconds before it started to play while the audio played straight away. This made the audio ahead of the video by about 2-3 seconds in all occasions.

SVCD by itself without menu, can't be F/F or R/W using these buttons or the "GO TO" button on the remote on both players. The video will go back to the beginning if any of these buttons was touched.

Both VCD & SVCD were burnt on CD/RW.

Is there a DVD player in Australia that can play SVCD wiht full F/F and R/W functions?

Any help would be very much apprecaited.

  2. I recommend that one use the Ulead MPEG.Now encoder to create one's source videos for burning using Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2.

In my experience, this has eliminated problems that arise from the use of many 3rd party encoders.

Here are some helpful tutorials for using the product:

I always edit the video with Ulead MSP 6.5 and encode the AVI with TMPG. That's has been what I learned from different forums (?foria), and TMPG has been hailed as the best mpeg encoder.

When you mentioned Ulead Mpeg Now, are you talking about creating a mpeg file direct from MSP timeline and not an AVI file after editing? Or is Ulead Mpeg Now a standalone program?

I'm a newbie to SVCD and menu's, so please do excuse some of my questions being too elementary.

    Thanks

  4. I also make VCD's by captureing and rendering to Mpeg2 in Ulead VS7 and convert to VCD format with TMPGenc, then auther VCD with Ulead Movie factory 2. TMPGenc works well to convert to VCD. MF2 will not have to reconvert if if the "don't convert compliant video" box is checked. I Never had any Audio sync problems. Are you putting VCD and SVCD on the same menu? Also in MF2 there is a an option to revert back to the menu after each chapter plays or continue on to the next automatically.

  5. Hi Tony,

Ulead MPEG.Now is the codec developed by Ulead using the Main Concept SDK.

MPEG.Now is native to all newer Ulead programs, including:

    1. Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7.0
    2. Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2
    3. DVD Workshop 1.3

I usually choose the HIGH quality setting template, which is CBR@8000.

The results have been fine and - for me - there's no need to bother with 3rd party encoders.

    Hi Machine Man,

I'm using MF 1.0. Menus seem to work fine with VCD. The menu can go to any selected scene with good audio sync. With SVCD, the menu goes to the correct scene with no problem, but the picture will freeze for a few seconds and then start playing and the audio is about 3 seconds ahead of the video.

Trying to solve this audio sync porblem, I Demux/Remux the 30 minutes long SVCD CBR mpeg file with BBmpg as suggested by someone in other thread in this forum, and then re-do the menu with MF1 and burnt it on SVCD again. It took about 8 hours to re-encode using a Pentium 3, 1GbHz, 512Mb Ram, Win 98SE. Is this normal? I never use the BBpmg before. The Video became very fuzzy and jittery and the audio was also jittery, fuzzy and blurry. I was very disappointed to say the least.

Next thing I'll try is, as suggested by Terry, to use Mpeg. Now to encode the AVI to SVCD mpeg2 and then do the menu with MF1 again. I'll post the result later.

Will the video quality using Mpeg. Now as good as using TMpGenc?

    Thanks for helping.

  8. Ulead developed the Ulead MPEG.Now codec by working with the Main Concept SDK.

What many users of DVD MovieFactory 2 overlook is that you can enable ADVANCED encoding options that give professionals significant new encoding power.

To enable these options on a Windows 2000 or Windows XP computer, simply click MY COMPUTER>C: DRIVE>DOCUMENTS & SETTINGS>ALL USERS>APPLICATION DATA>ULEAD SYSTEMS FOLDER>ULEAD DVD MOVIEFACTORY FOLDER>2.01 FOLDER>DVDMF (INI FILE).

Then add ADVANCE=1 under the [VIODRIVER] heading.

    Save the change.

    Then reboot.

When you open Ulead DVD MovieFactory afterward, you will be able to enter the DISC TEMPLATE OPTIONS and click a new ADVANCED button that appears under the COMPRESSION tab to access a new array of custom encoding parameter choices.
