I've tried searching this on Goolge for a while and asking my A+ teacher, all to no avail. I used partition magic to create 2 FAT32 partitions, installing Win2K on the first partiton (C:\) and WinME on a drive I called (G:\). Now I know I need to edit the boot.ini file, and I've found it and tried playing around with it by typing
c:\="Windows Millenium"
under the main command. It'll create a choice on the bootloader, but when I select the WInME choice, the computer reboots. I have a dvd rom and a cd-rw as well. Both partitions arer 10 gb each. Anyone help, please??

You say you installed Windows ME to your G: drive. You should probably try putting G:\ instead of C:\ in your boot.ini file. I'm not entirely sure that Windows ME will run from anything other than C:. DOS/95/98 had trouble with that, and ME is just yet another in the same series.

I'm not sure how to resolve your configuration, but I ran my computer with ME on the first partition, and W2K on the second. I used Partition Magic which included Boot Magic to do the setup for selecting the operating system. There was no manual editing of the ini file. Maybe you want to try a newer version of the partitioning software as they give specific instructions for setting up a dual boot.

My machines are set up with 98 on C:\ drive, and Win2k on D:\ drive. All the reports and instructions I have read advise you to set up the older, i.e. Win98 on the C:\ drive.I think ME may be the same. I do not use Partition Magic, but fdisk and format. You do not need a boot manager, if you install 98/ME and 2k. You will get the 2 systems as a choice at boot, and go into 2k to change the order, if you wish to reverse it. I don't know if you can change order in 98/ME, never tried.
And, if you should have to re-install 98, you may have to re-install Win2k,as the install program will over write the boot sequence. -
Why WinME? This is a horrible OS, Win98 is much better as a dual boot with Win2000.

You really need to give up on this dual boot config with only one hard drive. It will only give you headaches. Do what should be done and get one op system ME is a good one and put as your C drive. then you can put windows 2000/xp on the other hard drive D:. Microsoft does not even support dual op systems on one drive.

is it not possible to install them in separate folders on the same partition? or is the fundamental structure different in each?
