  1. I've read your posts Re: Sonic Vegas software, makes sence. What capture card would go well with that software. Are you satisfied with Vegas 4 or would or would Vegas 4+DVD be a better choice?

You should normally capture through firewire with Vegas so either a digital camcorder, or you can get a analog device which goes through firewire. I have canopus ADVC-50 and I love it. I have also heard very good things about the Canopus ADVC-100 as well. I wouln't really worry about getting the DVD architect if you already have a DVD authoring program since it is a very basic program like DVDIt or MyDVD, but if you don't have a DVD authoring package then get Vegas + DVD, it is a good program, even though it is kinda basic (the dvd part).

  3. Thanks for the reply.
Before I was having difficulty with PS8 Deluxe I was feeling that I was already out growing it. Now that I'm having difficulty in rendering mpeg's with menu's I think it's time to change to something that works.
Fortunately I got a $100.00 rebate with PS8 Deluxe so the damage could have been worse.

The only DVD authoring software I have is part of Pinnacle. I'm capturing analog VHS at this point. Is there a converter that will go from analog to firewire for capture that you know of?

    Moral to the story...
You get what you pay for.

Yeah the Canopus ADVC-50 and ADVC-100 both have analog inputs, and then it sends the signal to your computer via firewire. IF you just have pinnacle authoring software then I would reccomend getting the Vegas + DVD, I'm sure it will be a much better and less buggy authoring package.

You can go to http://www.canopus.com/US/Products/index/products_advc.asp to check out the ADVC-50 and 100
