NEC 3520 Issue

I just bought one of these a few months ago and I'm having some issues all of a sudden.

I recorded something on my DVD recorder (DVD+RW disc) last weekend and I wanted to rip it to my hard drive, take out the commercials and put it back to a DVD-R. The problem is that my NEC drive won't read the disc. My laptop reads it fine, so it isn't the disc.

What I mean is DVD Decrypter won't read the disc, WinDVD won't read the disc, nothing will.

Do I need to DL the new firmware for this to work? Do I need to DL one of these altered "riplock" firmware files for this to work?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you access it via Windows Explorer? If so just copy and paste. There is no need to rip since the data isn't encrypted. There have been a lot of issues with the way settop recorders author discs and getting a computer to recongnize them.

If they are VR format .VRO files, and you have Windows XP, you may need to download a specific .dll file or driver for your system to "see" them. I have an expired trial copy of Cyberlink PowerProducer 2 loaded on my hard drive... after I downloaded and installed that program, all my other apps were able to deal with .VRO's.

Worth a try if that's your situation...

If it's VRo file try TMPG DVD author
