Which should I buy ??
Hi, I'm brand new to all this 'dvd burning', but am about to buy myself a burner for the first time.
I've looked around the forum and found some very good information, and some that I'm going to have to study up on.
Before doing anything else I want to make sure of getting a decent burner, the two I'm toying with at the moment are the Ricoh MP5240 or the Sony DVDRW+/-
Both of these are on offer in the sales at the moment which is also swaying my choice.
Could anyone please advise on the good and bad points of these burners.

Over to the left.

Look for "DVD Writers", click on that. Then search for those writers in the list.

Ricoh writers allow book type setting, which could be rather handy if you have compatibility issues with a player.

Ditto the LiteOn 411s, and they are damn good at putting out firmware upgrades.
Mine was 80 bucks after rebate.
And half the other brands are LiteOn rebranded anyway. Even Sony is supposed to be getting LiteOn to make theirs.

And your point is?
If he's running a 600 meg machine, it will work.
If he's running a Mac, it will work. At least none of the Mac members have expressed any sour grapes that none of these burners will work with their machines.
I'm certainly not going to tell him he needs to get a 3 gigahertz machine before he asks a question.
Cheers,and Happy New Year,
