Why do my own Facebook videos only download in SD when the original was HD?

Hi everyone, I hope someone here can point me in the right direction because this is driving me crazy.

I upload videos to Facebook in HD, and the posts play in HD on Facebook itself. But when I download my own videos back from Facebook, I only get an SD file. The original quality is just gone. I already lost a few original files, so for those videos the Facebook copy is the only one I have left.

For example, in my own video related project work fdown.media, I deal with Facebook videos every day, and I honestly thought downloading your own video back would be the easy part. It is not.

So my questions are simple. Is there a reliable way to get my own Facebook videos back in real HD, the same quality I uploaded? And if Facebook re-encodes everything, what is the best workflow to keep a proper HD copy before uploading?

Any help would mean a lot. Thanks in advance.

How to find the Abyss player video link to use with AbyssVideoDownloader

Hello everyone

I am trying to extract direct video stream links from the Abyss web player to use with abyss-dl.jar (from the GitHub project AbyssVideoDownloader).

However, some hosting sites that use the Abyss player have anti-debugging protection that blocks right-clicking and the F12 key / Developer Tools. Currently, the only working method I have to capture links and download videos from Abyss is by using a browser extension like Max Video Downloader, which gives me a link formatted like this: abyss:31512888:XBtWgL_7v.

I have tested almost every downloader extension available on Chrome, but Max Video Downloader is the only one that can detect and capture the video link from this site. I believe this site has a very tough protection system in place.

I would like to learn how to find or extract these links manually without relying solely on browser extensions. Are there any alternative techniques or methods to inspect network traffic or bypass the F12 block?

Any suggestions or technical guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

This TV channel from Ecuador previously used the VuStream platform but recently it has switched platform, and the stream links are no longer .m3u8, now it's .mpd links, and I don't know how to download them.

Hi,

I've managed to download a DRM-protected video using WidevineProxy2 + N_m3u8DL_RE (+ mp4decrypt + ffmpeg) and some wvd files I found in a sticky thread on this forum. However, the video is still encrypted when I play it with VLC.
I may be wrong, but the only way I can explain it is that the wvd file I used(I tried with different ones) is no more valid.
So, I have the following questions :

Is there any quick way (like using a command-line tool for example) I can verify a wvd file is still valid before using it to download and decrypt DRM-protected videos?
Could someone provide me with a wvd file (or a remote.json file that works with WidevineProxy2) which is valid as of today? This will help me at least check that it is the single point of failure in my setup.

PS: I read the sticky post about creating my own wvd files using android studio. I tried it until I found my PC is too old for that(VT-x missing), and replacing it is not an option right now.

I�ve seen video files with some inserted (embedded) ad-videos (typically less than 30s). These ad videos can have different encoding so that they cause playing problems at those time points. Do you know how to handle this issue?

Hi everyone,

I�m currently trying to learn how to download DRM-protected videos by following this tutorial

I�ve installed the required software and pushed frida-server into a rooted Android Studio virtual device successfully. When I run dump_keys.py in dumper, it reports a series of INFO, DEBUG and Hooks completed.

However, when I play a DRM-protected video, I can't get any further output from the dumper.

I�ve tried videos from npo.nl and lascala.tv (requires login but free to watch), unfortunately both of them have the same issue.

I may have missed something in the setup, so I was wondering if anyone could kindly point me in the right direction or suggest what I should check.
