- Input the 4:2:0 1080i HDV file into vdub2 to strip the mpeg-2 codec saving as 4:2:2 HuffYUV AVI (not sure if 10bit can make a difference here, so I'm just using 8bit).
- Input the resulting large file into AVSpmod and de-interlace with QTGMC in fast mode, followed by a resize in the second line from 1440x1080 to 1920x1080 to preserve the 16:9 aspect ratio.
- Upload the second resulting file into YT and let it do the encoding.

Can you remove this more effectively with avisynth? I know the video is not optimal either. The problem is that in the room where the green wall is, if I turn on lights, there will be a shadow appearing on the wall. If I place led light source in front of me on the floor, with the LED panel facing upwards, the shadow goes but I only have 1 panel, and if I place more, it would cast another shadow anyway I think. So these are the conditons that you can see on the video where I can avoid shadows.

Its written for Apple silicon in Swift, and it works with FFmpeg as well as utilizing fprobe if you have it. Lets you select any specific FFmpeg binary if you have multiple versions or just uses whatever is in our PATH, does audio normalization, supports VideoToolBox acceleration where applicable, H.264, H.265, and AV1 output. It will support any input that FFmpeg does. It also has some simple controls for gamma and hue, supports 6 different HDR color mapping algorithms, upscaling, downscaling (Bicubic or Lanczos), cropping/auto-cropping, Filtering (HQDN3D, NLMeans, BM3D, CAS, and Unsharp), audio normalizing via LoudNorm including 2-pass analysis on audio if needed, audio conversion/mapping as well as setting default audio track, subtitles (SRT/TXT and burn in for PGS supported), Queue support, and quick samples.

I've put a lot of work into it, and was thinking of paying for an apple developer license to sell in the App Store. I figure a $2-$5 for the software. No plans for subscriptions or any of that nonsense, and I don't want to mess with maintaining a website. I found the command line a bit tedious trying to get the tone mapping right, mapping audio tracks for sources with 5 different audio tracks, various subtitles, and whatnot all just a pain, so wrote this initially for a simple one-click HDR to SDR.It just kind of expanded from there as I added functionality to it.

At some points it also seems to go in both diagonals. You can't really see them at smaller sizes but they're very obvious at larger viewing windows. They're most obvious over the large drape backdrop, but also still slightly over the people.

The exact transfer chain was:

Sony CCD-TRV66E > S-Video > DataVideo TBC-1000 > ATI TV Wonder 600 USB > VirtualDub 1.10.4 > ffmpeg (FFV1)

The tape had been transferred before but I only ever had a smudgy encoded MPEG-2 DVD, so I don't know if they were always there but I suspect not. They seem like interference somewhere in the capture chain to me, perhaps from the mains. It was transferred in France FWIW.

Either way, a new transfer is not currently possible, at least not any time soon, so I was wondering if there was any way I could reduce these a little without softening the overall image too much?

I'm trying to identify an old AVI video codec that uses the FOURCC SP34.

Background

Between 2001 and 2002, I recorded many videos using an external webcam connected to an IBM ThinkPad laptop.

At the time, all original AVI files played perfectly on my computer.

In 2004, I recompressed almost all of the videos to reduce their file size and then deleted the original files.

The recompressed videos also played correctly on my computer for several years.

However, after replacing my computer and reinstalling Windows, the videos could no longer be played because modern software cannot decode the video stream.

Unfortunately, I do not remember which software or codec I used for the recompression.

Reference File

One AVI file was apparently never recompressed and still works correctly.

What I Have Already Verified
AVI container is valid (RIFF / hdrl / movi / idx1).
Audio stream is intact.
File durations are correct.
File sizes are reasonable.
Microsoft FOURCC documentation contains no SP34 entry.
FOURCC.org also contains no SP34 entry.
My Questions
Has anyone ever encountered the SP34 FOURCC?
Could this be an old Video for Windows (VfW) codec?
Could it have been installed by an IBM webcam driver or another webcam application?
Does anyone have an old codec DLL registering VIDC.SP34?
Is there any known way to identify the actual codec behind this FOURCC?
Available for Analysis

I can provide:

A working Cinepak AVI file.
One or more SP34 AVI samples.
MediaInfo output.
FFmpeg/ffprobe output.
Hex dumps if needed.

Any help identifying this codec or recovering these AVI files would be greatly appreciated.

The intro and outro scenes are top field first but the rest of the tape seems to be a different field order that I can't figure out.
Setting input scan type to TFF results in a ghosting/shifting effect on every other frame instead of continuous motion. The other input scan types that output 59.94 fps don't look right either. It's hard to explain but I've attached a clip.
Is my only option to use interpolation to achieve smooth 59.94 fps or is there something else I'm missing?

I think the error is really absurd because of the following reasons
1) I had run a similar command like this however with four videos, and it worked.
2) Videos #1 (0) and #8 (7), mentioned in the command above, have no audio, however, I think, the command is so engineered it must clear any confusion caused by assuming audio streams are removed from the list because they are absent, which will break its structural functionality, or something…
Likewise, I’ll send you herein the input videos I’m using for such conversion.

Could you help me clarify this issue, please, and propose some workarounds that help solve, or at least neutralize the problem? I’ll thank your answer.
