Hello all,

I've just started working with some basic Panasonic MII capturing and note when I deinterlace the following with QTGMC via hybrid with some cropping and scaling, it introduces what appears to be a vertical one-line jitter on every other frame that I can't really see in the pre-de-interlaced footage - please see both attachments.

Any ideas how to get rid of that jitter or what caused it in the first place?

As far as the capture chain, it's an AU-65P machine (with internal TBC that can't be disabled) and output via component (at MII levels which is not standard component) which then gets transcoded to betacam digital component levels via a DPS470 is set to minimum delay transcoder mode (and does not act as a TBC).

Since the still-interlaced footage doesn't appear to have that jitter, I don't think the chain is necessarily the issue?

Thanks in advance!

Here is the 20 second video made with phone (don't know the brand):
The video plays fine on VLC on two different computers and also plays fine on MPC-HC.
However the video plays upside down (inverted) on Walmart dvr. (Important clue: the video thumbnail on computer is also upside down, see screenshot.) I tried converting video to mp4 with Tubedigger convert tool, but video and thumbnail still upside down. (Additional info- Video also plays upside down on this computer Windows Media Player, which I rarely use that software, about 15 years old)
My question, how can I get the video to play correctly on Walmart dvr? I don't want to invert (recode) the video because then it would be upside down on computer.

Deinterlace on/off automatically on a continuous stream?

Got a continuous SDI stream (Decklink input), in this case a program feed at a TV station I am live streaming, which I want to always output progressive.

Got a continuous SDI stream (Decklink input), in this case a program feed at a TV station I am live streaming, which I want to always output progressive. Some live content is genuine 1080i29.97, while other content is 1080PsF (1080p29.97 but being played out through a 1080i router).

BWDIF does a great job on the real interlaced content, but I find it tends to add artifacts to PsF stuff, particularly on edges of logos and text if they're animated.

Is it possible to chain together some detection to have a sort of rolling average of confidence on whether the content is interlaced or not, and have BWDIF activate & deactivate automatically?

I'm thinking something like:

Code:

-filter:v "idet=half_life=300,bwdif=mode=0,deint=interlaced"

But I'm not sure if the metadata or filter behavior actually works this way?

In my testing with idet it does seem to log "tff" (top field first) and "progressive" fairly reliably on the multi-frame report, but less so on the single frame. So I'm not sure if I can use the "half_life" parameter in this way. I've also seen references to using the "fieldmatch" filter for this type of thing, but that seems more for inverse telecine purposes so I'm not sure.

Thanks :)
