Before splitting it with MKVToolNix it was imported but only as audio track (even in Premiere). How can I convert it without losing quality and keeping the audio mapping (two 5.1 and one mono)? I tried .mov but the channels are seen as single mono tracks in DaVinci. I don't care about subtitles.

Hi. I downloaded MeGUI 6.6.6.6, adjusted the settings to my liking and indexed a video. All worked well. I then UNticked the box saying 'always use the included avisynth' and MeGUI just shut down and won't reopen - the logo appears for a second (as it normally would) but then disappears. So I have MeGUI 6.6.6.6 on my PC but can't open it.
Does anyone know cause and cure for this weirdness? Many thanks.

Hi. I've been using avisynth taken from the 'Avisynth Repository' and editing with MeGUI (the 'always use the included avisynth' box being UNticked). For reasons I won't bore you with, I wanted to just have MeGUI and so I uninstalled the 'Repository' avisynth and ticked MeGUI's 'always use the included avisynth' box. I made sure that my MeGUI plugins folder had the same stuff as was in Repository (including QTGMC.avsi).

I scripted a DVD and included the line 'QTGMC(FPSDivisor=2, border=true)' but running it caused MeGUI to say "there is no function named qtgmc". After reinstalling Repository avisynth, all is well, the script runs. Two things, then:

Why, when the 'always use the included avisynth' box is ticked, is MeGUI going to the Repository to fulfil the QTGMC command?

What do I need to do to get MeGUI truly working in standalone mode? Like I said, it's plugin folder has everything that Repository has.

My thanks for any help offered.

Hello,

I have an AVI video file that won't open in any standard player (VLC media player, Windows Media Player, etc.). The file appears to use an unknown video codec with FOURCC identifier "pyv5".

File info:

Format: AVI

Video codec: pyv5 (FOURCC: 0x35767970)

Size: ~400 MB, 15 minutes

Audio works fine, but video doesn't play

The file was originally playable on another computer, but I don't know which player was used. It seems to be from a surveillance camera or DVR system.

Important note: the files appear to be edited — both video and audio have been modified/spliced together from different recordings.

Has anyone encountered this codec before? Are there any tools or codec packs that support pyv5?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi all,
I am a Premiere Pro user and I'm trying to rewrap my camera footage (.mts) to MXF so that I can edit it smoothly and easily in Premiere Pro. I can't import the .mts files into Premiere; they hang. I've been using TMPGENC MPEG Smart Renderer 4 in Windows 10 for rewrapping, but that software no longer works in Windows 11; it won't even load. MXF files are my best option for performance and filesize.

Rather than pay for upgrading to TMPGENC MPEG Smart Renderer 6, I decided to look into free options, even if rewrapping involves a bit more work. I've been trying XMedia Recode, but for some reason it will not convert nor pass through the audio. If I select Stream only copy, the video passes through but the audio does not. If I deselect Stream only copy, I get an error message that says "An error occurred when converting."

Hi,

I've got some BluRays of a 4:3 TV series. I'd like to encode smaller copies to store on the hard drive so I don't need to get the discs out each time.

I thought I would crop out the black bars off the sides as I go, which is easy enough for the video stream, but just can't manage to get this to work with the subtitle stream (PGSSUB).

If I only crop the video (crop=1440:1080:240:0), the subtitles get squeezed horizontally. The subtitle stream can be filtered similarly to the video, but then it stops being a subtitle stream and FFMPEG outputs a file with two video streams (cropped video and cropped subtitle). So basically it can do what I want, but I can't get a useful output file. Can I somehow force the filtered subtitle back into being a subtitle stream? Just a question of order of operations perhaps?

There also seems to be no PGSSUB encoder, but I'm fine with DVDSUB even if the text then loses some of the anti-aliasing. I don't really want to go through the trouble of OCR'ing all of this.

So long story short, how would I crop the black bars off both the video and the subtitles?

Thanks for any input!
