Hello I have used this camcorder for many tape dubs. I recently got some new tapes in and I'm having issues getting anything to appear. The camera doesn't seem to be tracking the tapes correctly. The top half will be moving static, while the bottom is just black. What is interesting to me is all the tapes do the exact thing, with the same exact pattern. Is this a case of the tapes were recorded with a camera out of alignment? Is it a lp sp problem? Any thoughts or ideas would help tremendously. Thank you!

Hi,

I've been using the above camcorder of my father's to digitise his catalog of home recordings. All had been going fine, I've done about 5 tapes with no issues, then suddenly on a tape it stopped working. I was playing back a video and the footage was fine but it then went to blue screen, the timecode just shows dashes now with not numbers and no footage showing, despite me scanning the tape first and could see there was 30 minutes of footage. I rewound the tape to the beginning and it no longer played the footage I'd just seen.

I also tried the previous 5 tapes that I had digitised already and they all no longer playback any footage, just blue screen. The mechanism is working, the tape goes forward when pressing play and everything else seems to be working mechanicaly.

I tried using a cleaning tape to no joy. I cannot see any obstructions inside the tape deck. I also tried recording some new footage on one of the tapes I'd already digitised, and that seemed to be working - it showed the time code whilst recording and then when I went back to playback mode, the timecode showed, but when I went to view the footage back, it again went just to dashes and the footage did not show.

I really don't want to have to buy a new player, so if anyone can help with if this is fixable that'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Camcorder for indoor video: natural human skin, low-light performance

Hi Everyone

I would like your advice on choosing a Japanese brand camcorder for *filming indoors*

Typical recording time:

* 25 minutes *handheld*
* 30–45 minutes on a *tripod*

Hi Everyone

I would like your advice on choosing a Japanese brand camcorder for filming indoors

Typical recording time:

25 minutes handheld

30–45 minutes on a tripod

My MOST IMPORTANT requirement is natural human skin image quality:

No beautification

No skin smoothing

No artificial color changes

I want human skin wrinkles, skin textures, and skin colors to appear exactly as I see them with my eyes

I want ready-to-use high-quality video (because I’m not a professional)

Other requirements:

Low-light performance

Uncropped 50fps (PAL) video

No lens distortion

Built-in stabilization

Minimal overheating

Settings (For non professional)

Filming distance:

(30 to 60 cm) from the subject, so I need a field of view in the (24mm to 35mm) range

Also very CLOSE-UP (5 to 1 cm) of parts of the human body (IMPORTANT)

Questions:

1. WHICH camera model would you recommend me ?

2. Is Full HD resolution very sharp and had enough details, or should I use 4K resolution ?

3. How does a high-quality compact camcorder compare to the Sony ZV-1 ? (important question)

Budget: Up to 1000 euros / 1200 dollars (preferably cheaper)

Weight: Under 1000g / 1kg

Thank you very much

I have a Sony Digital8 that takes three-contact InfoLithium NP-FM series batteries such as NP-FM70. Is there a charger compatible with these that will attempt rejuvenation cycles?

While I'm at it, I saw one YouTube video where they use a pair of 18650 rechargables to replace the original cells with the caveat that doing this can create a fire hazard though after doing this it did fire up the camera. Anyone have insight regarding this?

Thanks.
