I'm using RivaEncoder to convert FLV to avi.
    All OK.
The problem is that I want to play the video on my pocket PC.
I've got program on their to play Divx video.

The video itself plays on my pocket PC: but no sound.
It plays OK on my PC.

    Not a problem still.
I thought I could get Virtualdubmod to save as Divx avi.
But... my version doesn't read the video.

Am I missing something like an extra codec?
    Thanks.

  2. Riva FLV Encoder convert FLV to AVI using FFmpeg & Lame.
After conversion AVI file contain video track with FourCC FMP4 (FFmpeg/ffdshow ISO MPEG-4) & audio track (MPEG (MP1/MP2)).
Video track no problem (ffdshow VfW), but audio...

Better method is demux FLV to AVI & MP3 in FLV Extract.
After - join & convert in VirtualDubMod (with turn on FLV1 and/or VP6F/FLV4 in ffdshow VfW).

Or... use FLV Splitter & ffdshow - create AviSynth script (DirectShowSource) & use VirtualDubMod.

Or... just use SUPER, MediaCoder, WinFF, Dr.DivX...

(Default in FLV audio is MPEG-1 Layer 3)

    (Sorry for language.)

Isn't Riva FLV Encoder exactly that....it encodes TO FLV?

    i tried doing the above.
i installed the latest version of ffdshow (as instructed for flv extract).
(previously... i couldn't play the avi file... now i can after installing the latest ffdshow.)
unfortunately... my virtualdubmode still can't process the video file.
i would assume i would have the same problem trying some of the other methods suggested.
what am i missing for virtualdubmod?

    thanks.

    AVI with FLV1?
ffdshow - VfW configuration > Decoder > Codecs > FLV1 - turn on to libavcodec

    Not necessarily.
It's useful when You find AVI with H.263 (rarely, but possible) and edit or convert him in VirtualDub.
Like other codecs in ffdshow VfW.

well having either the flv or the h.263 turned on: does this do any harm?
maybe like take more processing power or something?

i tried winff: wasn't really happy with the results.
the resultant avi file was less quality than the flv, but just about watchable.

thanks to all the replies though: i'm now using flv extract and joing with virtualdubmod.
    results: wow!

    thanks for all the help.
