    Hi,

Yup, I am new here. Been doin well on my own 'til now! For some as yet to be explained reason, none of my video stored on my hard drive will load into the editing software. This just began happening recently. Cannot even load sample stuff! CPU locks up and must be re-booted.

I have been using WinDVD creator for over a year without probs, tho I am aware of its shortcomings, it worked for me. I have attempted to load any video clip from my drive to Movie Maker and ShowBiz with the same results.

Is it possible an XP update did this? I have swithched auto update off now.

Most of my archived video was saved thru WinDVD Creator from my DV camera. No probs in the past. I was able to load any of my clips into any of the aforementioned apps without trouble.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I dont believe this to be software related, but I am no computer wiz, just a lazy old camera operator.

    Thanx
    Billy

I've had hds corrupt data without looking like they were bad.

Try copying a smaller file contol-c/control-v to your desktop and then right click for properties and check the file size. I've lost text files next to isos, but the iso was still intact. Call it a ghost in the machine.

If it copies, try opening the file from the desktop.

Stuff that matters, I have many cd/dvd disc copies of, not just on hd.

Try opening the file(s) with a prog such as gspot and see if it can still be recognized. I agree with dnix71, sounds like HD issues.
