All the DIV-X Movies I've tried under Win XP with the Media player run just fine...... I'm using the Div-x 3.11 codec....

I've had a bit of trouble with XP but eventually got it worked out. Version 3.11 of DivX works great but the newer 4.12 has some problems, mainly with audio/video sync and not being able to play all files.
A couple things I'd suggest are to install the latest version 4 DivX codec pack and then install the older 3.11 version after. Although the ver 4 package supports 3.11 I find it has trouble opening the files. I'd also suggest trying to use MediaPlayer 6.4 which is included in XP. It's called mplayer2.exe and you can find it in the C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player folder.
Another thing is to run your file through a tiny program called divfix which is available for free on various divx sites. Or you can open the divx file in Virtualdub and do a direct stream copy of both audio and video to create a more stable version.
The last thing is to turn off video acceration in the Windows MediaPlayer if you get the "upside-down" playback of DivX files. Go to tools->options-> performance->advanced and uncheck the "use video mixing renderer" box.

Well i think after trying all of above that my problem is that my divx is broken. First of all does anyone know what that means, next my pc did freeze while i was downloading ali and i had to resume it while i was around half way done. Would that make it a broken divx ???

atuln007,
First off, I'd be very skeptical with any files I download off the internet, especially screener divx files. From my experience, most divx screeners are very poor in quality, and no telling how they were encoded.
Secondly, from my experience, WMP sucks as a divx player. I'm not sure if this recommendation can help you with your current problem, but for future divx playback, I'd check out http://www.powerdivx.com/ and download their next generation divx player ( I think it's 3.12 or 3.11)
Regards
