I was wondering if it is possible to make SVCDs which my standalone DVD player and widescreen TV will recognise as a 16:9 source and switch to widescreen automatically.

I have captured a widescreen source and made a good quality SVCD which plays perfectly, and in the correct aspect ratio, on my widescreen TV, but I have to switch it to widescreen manually. The original source makes my TV switch to widescreen automatically, and I would like it if this happened with the SVCD I have made.

I have captured it in 480x576 (PAL), 25 fps, using Huffy and VDub, then frameserved to CCE 2.5 and muxed with BBMpeg and burned using VCDEasy. Is there anything in these that I have to do to enable the automatic switching.

Many thanks,

Kevin.

Hi,

In the CCE->Encode Settings->Other Settings->Video->Video ->Aspect Ratio , set to 16:9, it will encode the mpeg with this signaling.
And in the bbmpeg, in the Video Stream settings, set the same in Aspect Ratio.
I'm not shure but not all DVD Players use this signaling correctly, I don't have a widescreen set, but the player didn't letterboxed the screen.

Thanks for that, I'll give it a try.

I knew it would be something simple like that.

Cheers,
Kevin.
