Anyone using a Canon Vistura DV camcorder and Windows XP ? I have a Dell 8200, Pent. 4 @1.8GHz, Standard Dell Movie Studio bundle and I'm curious as to whether I still need the Canon DV-1 capture kit(IEEE1394) to get started or will my current setup hack it ? I'm a real video neophyte is there a good website for dummies just getting started ? This appears to be great site.

don't know specifics about that Dell model. Check if it came standard with a firewire card. If it did, then you don't need to use your 1394 card.
