Movie Factory doesn't try to re-encode my files. From the "Author Menus" area it either accepts your file or rejects it. In the "Capture" area you can render a captured file into whatever format, but when I'm creating the menus and importing my mpegs I encoded with TMPGEnc, the program either likes it or refuses to use it. You might be thinking of Ulead's DVD Workshop. The thread below refers to a re-encoding problem.

Hope that helps.

Thanks again. It didn't give me a problem. I was anticipating it as a possible problem after reading a Ulead Workshop thread.
These menues are so cool and convenient for home videos.

Hey there,
Had a couple quick questions that I hope someone can answer.
1. Does Moviefacotry allow any other audio streams then mpeg. I tried oading a mpg file with.mp2 audio and it froze for a few seconds and then went back to the load mpg page but no file was loaded. What audio streams does it allow? I created a mpg file using Tmpg but the audio quality was very poor. It sounded very hissy in my stereo.
2. Do you need to have a actual muxed mpg file or can you add the video and audio streams separate. If so how?
Thanks in advance

Hi everybody,
looks as if this site hasn't been used for a while. Hope I still get an answer. I'm a Newbie and just succeeded in capturing from my 6 year old Hi8 and burning my first DVD with Ulead MovieFactory. Everything worked great. Good picture and sound quality on TV from my HarmanKardon DVD5. Only little hickup I can't solve so far is that the DVD stops at the end of each Menue Chapter and I have to click to the next chapter and have to press play again. Interestingly when I start from a scene thumbnail within the chapter, all the scenes are played, but again only until the end of the chapter. Does anybody have an idea how to correct this?
One more question how can I change to burn a DVD in PAL instead NTSC?
Appreciate any help I can get!

Pinnacle's answer to Ulead DVD movie factory is
Pinnacle vision
Though it has a few more features in terms
of creating the menu , it has a serious drawback
in that ... it will not import mpeg2 files created
by tmpegenc and other encoders
It re-does the encoding and it increases the time
as well as deteriorates the quality of encoding
In that regard UDMF is much better
It is simple and does the work
Obviously it can be improved upon with more options
in menu design and chapters going back to the main
menu after it is played

I have Pinnacle Studio 8. It imports TMPGenc files and does not reencode if you know what you're doing. See the Pinnacle Studio 8 webboard for all the details.

Hello,
Im very new to all of this.
Recently I attempted to use U Lead Move Factory. Everything has gone fairly well except one puzzeling little problem.
A few steps before the burn process, you are given the option of adding music to the opening of your project. I added a short mp3 song which I liked and continued with the process.
Everything came up fine on my home DVD player except the audio in the beginning was quite distorted. When it was played on the computer it sounded fine. After this I redid the whole thing over again and inserted the music selections that were supplied by U lead and then burned the the thing over again. This time it sounded fine on my home dvd player.
I suspect it may have something to do with the encoding of the mp 3, but checking it through NERO it appeared to have the same frequency and bit rate of the selections offered by Ulead??
Has anyone had this experience?
Thanks

I am trying to use Ulead DVD Moviefactory. I have imported the Mpegs that I want but when I create the vcd and watch it in my player I am only able to view at the most 10min worth of any mpeg file. What could I be doing wrong here?

hey, i have some questions about Ulead DVD Movie Factory. could anyone please aswer tham? i'm crazy after a good authoring program and any help would be appreciated. here tehy are:
- do i really have to burn the files in Ulead? can i just import them to another program (like VCDEasy) or save them?
- can i only make the chapters menu? can i make the main menu (with chapters/play movie/trailer buttons) also? i read somewhere that i can only make one menu. i want to make an intro, then the main menu, and the chapter menu.
- is there a webpage for new templates?
well, that's about it. PLEASE any help would be appreciated. thanks!
take care.

1) It can create ISO images or their own image format. Not bin/cue in version 1
2) Yes, one menu but it can have an intro video also. So the menu can be chapter points or be multiple videos (or maybe a combo but all on one menu?)
3) They post some new templates on their site. Supposedly version 2 will allow template creation
