Dvd won't play in computer Dvd player

I have a dvd that will play in my sony dvd player. But when I want to watch it on my computer it wont play. It says "the disk is unreadable by the computer. Do you want to initialize it?" Any suggestions as to how to make it work on my computer dvd player.
