when you encode in TMPGenc, you first go to the advanced functions page through the Setting button on the bottom, next to the output title. Once there you go to Clip Frame. Once there, you block off the top and bottom , and then the left and right, probably near the middle, until you get close to TV dimensions. Then, under "Video Arrange Method" choose "Full screen" Voila! A nice cropped movie. Now, if stuff happens off-screen, don't worry about it, it's just a trade-off from not wanting those black bars there. However, if you're the sort of bloke who actually LIKES movies, you'll leave them there. Of course, you can always just leave the sides alone, and have all the stuff stretched, I suppose, but seeing "Fat B.astard" from Austin Powers fitting into a size 0 dress, it doesn't seem right smile.gif

you can also clip it in dvd2avi, under VIDEO, CLIP & RESIZE. click on the check box, and the rest is fairly self explanatory.
