Okay, here's the situation: I have 4 .vob files, each file is approximately 1GB a piece. It's all one movie, just mulitple .vob files. Is there anyway I can cut each file so I can burn the .vob files on a CDR, and then join them back together again?

Basically what I want to do is take 4GB and put it on to a CDR, and I realize I will have to have more than one CDR to do that. Is there anyway I can choose to back up each file where it will write the .vob on the cd, and when it runs out of space ask for another blank disk?

Or can I compress each file into muliple zip archives? And then copy them on to CDRs?? If so, which process is the fastest, or best option?

I'm not sure why you want to do this, but there are several free/shareware programs that will allow you to spilt a file into muliple parts and then 'splice' them back together. Do a search at http://www.download.com (I had a program called spilce that would do this, but lost it a while ago).

Question - why do you want to do this? Is there some reason you don't want to convert the VOBs to a DivX or MPEG file?

if i were you i'd use winace (www.winace.com) and create a multiple file achrive and make 6 files (5 700mb files & 1 500mb file), burn'em to cd-r's. and when you need to extract them, just open up the first file and it will decompress it and ask you for the 2nd file (2nd disc), and so on and so forth. it works pretty well.

good luck

I dont think you should compress them with winzip, winrar etc, that will take a long long time to pack, and more unpacking.

I think it would be best to use a program that cuts the file in half, 500Mb on each disk. Thats going to be the quickest.

Check out what Vejita-sama has said above, but download a few before you decide which one to use.
