SVCD Template for TMPGEnc

Am looking for a good NTSC SVCD template for TMPGEnc. I've been trying to learn how to do SVCD right and on my first try to get a full 101.57 minute movie onto a single 80 minute CD-R, I got a good copy but half way through the sound went out of synch. I tried the SVCD templates that come with TMPGEnc but at 24% of the encoding, the file size was already at 400 MBs.

I've read all of the guides here and on other web sites, but being a newbie, I am now seeking the advice of the folks here (and hopefully access to a good template...)

You are very controdictive, you said you want an SVCD NTSC Template, and yet you said you want to fit 100min into a single 80min CDR, those two things don't go together, what you are looking for, at the closest, would be my SxVCD, since it uses MPEG2, but it's not SVCD, and won't give you SVCD quality, if you manage to put 100min in SVCD Standard, you are the first man on the planet wink.gif

Sefy's SxVCD template is quite good, and you should download it from this site and use it. Don't forget to read the readme files included in the package.

Using Sefy's template I managed to get about 100 minutes of MPEG2 video at 352x240, min bitrate of 0, max of 1150, with 96kbps mono audio. I had to overburn. Stereo audio, even at 96kbps, put me over the overburn threshold for the media I was using at the time. I haven't tried it again, as lately I've been copying discs where quality means more than playtime. I'm preparing to move this video to DVD in the next year or so, so I'm making extremely high bitrate XSVCDs with all the audio settings maxed out at best quality.

Sefy....don't get me wrong...I was just kidding around. Of course you've helped. I Dl'd your templates and have been experimenting with different settings. Somehow I unwittingly encoded that 101.57 minute file down to about 725 MBs but the audio still went out of synch about half way through the movie. I think it may have to do with the fact that I had to join the two mpg files before encoding. That's the point where the audio goes out of synch.

Oh well...on to more experiments.

Since you've mentioned it goes out of sync at the point you joined the two MPG's, why don't you try encoding each part on it's own, and just combine it when you are done encoding ? or you can put each part as a track in Nero, of course, using that method, you will have some sort of delay during playback.

Thanks...will try that. But when using the Bit rate calculator for half of a movie, do I choose the 2 80 minute CD-R or 1 80 minute CD-R to get the correct Bit Rate? Ultimately I would to get it down to 1 CD-R.

Since you mentioned you want it on 1 80min CDR, just put in the calculator the single CD and not the two, and use the same Bitrate from the two files, shouldn't have any problems.
If you want to use two 80min CDR's, then make sure in the calculator you put in the length of one part and the bitrate for one movie.

getting 101 mins on the disk isnt at all dificult... u can use sefy's SeVCD template, with the cq_vbr on 50, audio at 112 kbs and it will fit. or u can use the lvcd template, i can get 120+ mins on an 80 min disk with that, losing a bit of vid quality obviously, but if thats your goal, it is obtainable1

Using the Sx/Se VCD Templates can't guarntee you will fit that much movie, as each movie encodes diffrently, if you have alot of action scenes and lots of changes, your movie will most propably compress alot less then a non-action movie.
