VideoStudio 5.0 and DV Type-1

I am capturing from my Sony TRV-120 into Ulead Video Studio 5.0 via my ADS Pyro firewire card. I can control the camcorder and record a clip. But I can't play the clip in VideoStudio. The clip is captured as DV Type-1. I can convert it to Type-2 and view it in VideoStudio. I can also convert it to MPEG-1 w/o any problems. I can also view the Type-1 clip in Media Player and play it. But not in VideoStudio. Any suggestions or edits? Can I force VS to capture Type-2? Can I send rendered Type-2 back to Digital8 camcorder for archiving?
