I am looking at either a Gateway Solo 9500 or a Dell Inspiron 8000 notebook and was wondering what advantages a fatser video card would have in editing of my video. The Gateway comes with a 16MB ATI Mobility 3D carfd while the Dell has a Geforce 2 Go 32MB video card. I know the Geforce 2 is the better but will it make a huge difference with editing. For me, otherwise the Gateway seems to have the better deal but the Dell has this card. Would it make enough difference to go for the Dell because of this card even though some of its other features (smaller screen less ram) make it worse for a simliar price.
Thanks

You can even have 8mb or 64mb, that won't matter one bit for Editing, Cutting or Joining, the RAM you have on your Display Card is specificly and only for 3D Games, it is not usefull for anything else.

i have a 4mb s3virge/dx graphic card and everything is running fine; i can capture at 352x288 up to 720x576, so you see that it really doesnt matter what display card you have installed. the only things you should really care about are the proc, the ram, and the hdds.

ciao, ben.
