How do you decrease the file size without editing anymore of the video?
Be it .avi, .mpg or any format, how would you decrease the quality with, for example, TMPGenc or Virtual Dub?

here's an interesting way i just came across. just load the avi or mpeg into vdub, frameserve to tmpgenc, use the exact same rez and bitrate settings but enable "noise reduction" with a value of 50 or more, and re-encode. picture is bit softer but resulting mpeg is smaller. i did this with an mpeg of "Bless The Child" to clean up some noise and reduced the filesize by 100 Megabytes.
